Update your business mail redirection or mail hold service

  • Depending on the service, you can apply to extend, alter or cancel your existing business mail redirection or mail hold service online or at the Post Office.
  • You'll need your 9-digit customer reference number (CRN), which is on your original receipt, confirmation or extension letter.
  • Your extension reminder letter will include a pay by date.

Complete both pages of the Alter or Cancel form (PDF 1.3Mb), as one will be for your records. Take them to the nearest Post Office with the original application and receipt, and proof of identity to:

  • add or remove names
  • change the start or end date of your service
  • change an address
  • cancel your service

To correct minor errors, or add or remove a name over the phone, call 13 76 78.

Have someone else change your service

If you’re overseas, or can’t get to a Post Office, you can nominate someone else to fill in and take the completed Alter or Cancel form (PDF 1.3Mb) to the Post Office on your behalf. They’ll need to provide proof of identity and written authority from you (the original applicant listed) that includes:

  • date
  • customer reference number (from the original application)
  • reason for authority
  • name and signature of the person changing your service on your behalf
  • your name and signature
Refunds

If you decide to cancel your business mail redirection or mail hold service, you may be entitled to a refund. To request a refund, fill in and take the completed Alter or Cancel form (PDF 1.3Mb) to your nearest Post Office. You’ll also need to show:

  • the original retail application and receipt, or the tax invoice email, and
  • proof of identity.

To apply, you'll need to provide photo ID such as a driver licence or passport (student cards and credit cards are not accepted).

Alternatively, you can provide one of each of the following:

  • a document with your name and Australian residential address, such as a bank statement, rates notice or residential lease, and
  • a document that shows your signature, such as a debit/credit card, student card or Statutory Declaration.
Online applications

To apply online, you'll need to provide photo ID and upload a photo (in JPG format) of you holding your verified photo ID.
