Bulk mail changes

From 3 March 2025 a fee will be introduced for non-conforming bulk mail lodgements.  And from 1 July 2025 Clean Mail will no longer be available. Instead, customers will be able to lodge mail as PreSort Letters Unbarcoded.

Use PreSort Letters to save money

PreSort Letters is a cost-effective way to send fully addressed mail. You can get discounted postage rates if you're sending more than 300 machine-addressed sorted items, with even lower postage rates when also barcoded.

As well as Priority delivery, PreSort Letters service offers the option of a lower cost Regular delivery service for non-time critical mail.

What you can send

With PreSort Letters, you can send 'Small', 'Small Plus' or 'Large' items.

Pricing and payment

Postage rates start at $1.530 per item, and depend on the size and weight of the item, the destination, level of sorting and the delivery standard you need (Priority or Regular delivery).

You can pay for PreSort Letters using your Australia Post business credit account, a postage meter, cash, debit card or credit card.

How to use PreSort Letters

Sending your PreSort Letters is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Prepare your mail: You or your mail house needs to prepare your PreSort Letters (if you need a mail house to help you, you can find one in our list of Bulk Mail Partners). Refer to the PreSort Letters Service Guide (PDF 1.62MB) for detailed instructions on how to prepare and sort your PreSort Letters. If you're unsure whether your mail meets the service requirements for addressing, you can email us a sample of your letter. We'll provide feedback within three working days.
Complete your lodgement documentation: Complete the PreSort lodgement document (PDF 93kB) - or if you're paying using a postage meter, complete the Metered lodgement document (PDF 115kB).
Lodge your mail: Take your completed document, with your articles, to your closest approved lodgement facility1, or your mail house may use the Electronic Lodgement Management System (eLMS) and arrange for your items to be collected instead.

Please note:

If you're lodging more than 2,000 items, you'll also need to complete a PreSort Letters supporting document. This details the number of items and trays in each sort plan. Refer to the PreSort Letters Service Guide (PDF 1.62MB) for more information.
